In partnership with the Smithsonian and the Magic City Discovery Center team, Mindsplash collaborated to create the first ever Spark!Lab that also featured a separate open-ended Maker Space. This dual Spark!Lab/ MCDC Makers focus provides an environment for a richer, larger set of invention challenges and cross discipline projects, builds in change for visitors and school groups, an innovative approach welcomed by the Smithsonian team.
Highlighting North Dakota Inventors, this artistically designed 1,000 SF space features one section with the Smithonisan’s developed visitor-driven invention projects, an interactive kiosk to record visitor inventions, and their process, and another sections featuring rotating self-driven Makers projects. Projects, displayed on an interactive whiteboard, range from making shoes, a wide range of 3D printing projects, building vehicles, toy inventions, solving environmental problems, electric circuits, skyscraper sculptures, musical ramps, and much more.
